Nature of the Service
ZeroStarRating is an exclusively negative review platform covering two systems: (1) a map-based platform for reviewing physical locations such as employers, landlords, and businesses; and (2) a product review platform for consumer goods organized by category and retailer. Every review on this Site represents the lowest possible rating. We do not verify or endorse User Content.
Your Responsibilities — Heightened Standard of Honesty
Because every review is a zero star, the potential for reputational harm is significantly higher here than on mixed-review platforms. You are held to a heightened standard of honesty and care. You agree that all reviews are based on your own genuine, direct, first-hand experience; are supported by actual evidence you possess; clearly distinguish fact from opinion; and are not exaggerated, fabricated, or posted on behalf of another person. If you cannot honestly say your review is true and evidence-backed, do not post it.
Prohibited Content
Political content is expressly forbidden. You may not review government bodies, elected officials, political parties, or public institutions in their governmental capacity. Political reviews are removed immediately without notice.
Naming private individuals is prohibited. You may say "the manager did X" but not "Brian, the manager, did X." Reviews naming private individuals are removed immediately. Public figures may be named only where directly relevant to a legitimate review of a company's products or services.
No defamatory, harassing, obscene, threatening, or unlawful content.
No content depicting or endangering minors.
No personally identifiable information about private individuals (home addresses, phone numbers, financial details).
Our Commitment to Honest Reviews
We will not remove reviews solely because a Subject is unhappy or threatens legal action. Where we believe a review reflects a genuine good-faith experience, we intend to resist such pressure. This commitment does not extend to prohibited content (political, named individuals) or reviews we reasonably believe to be false or posted in bad faith — and no legal support will be offered for those.
Release of Liability
You — not ZeroStarRating — bear sole legal responsibility for content you post. You release ZeroStarRating from liability for User Content and agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your content, including defamation, trade libel, or tortious interference claims.
Privacy and Data
We will never sell your data. We accept no advertising and have no advertiser relationships. We employ technical measures to block bots and AI scrapers but cannot guarantee complete exclusion. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
Lifetime Membership — Important Disclosures
If you purchase a Lifetime Membership, the following apply and you must read them carefully:
"Lifetime" means your biological life only — not the life of the platform. It does not guarantee any minimum period of access.
Non-transferable — cannot be sold, gifted, inherited, shared, or transferred to any person for any reason. It terminates automatically upon your death with no estate value.
Platform discontinuation — if ZeroStarRating ceases operations for any reason, all memberships including Lifetime terminate simultaneously without refund.
Sale or acquisition of ZeroStarRating — if the Site is sold or transferred to a new owner, your Lifetime Membership becomes null and void unless the new owner expressly agrees in writing to honor it. ZeroStarRating makes no promise that any future buyer will do so. You accept this risk as a known and disclosed condition of purchase and waive any claim against ZeroStarRating or any successor arising from this. This provision is informed by legal precedent including litigation arising from the sale of Killington Resort, where courts upheld an acquiring company's right to decline to honor lifetime passes sold by the prior owner.
No refunds — all Lifetime Membership purchases are final and non-refundable under all circumstances.
By purchasing a Lifetime Membership you confirm you have read Section 16A of the full Terms of Service, understand its terms, and had the opportunity to seek independent legal advice before purchasing.
Disputes and Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire. Disputes are subject to binding arbitration on an individual basis — you waive the right to participate in class action lawsuits.

This Privacy Policy describes how ZeroStarRating collects, uses, and protects your information when you use this Site. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account Registration: Username, email address, and encrypted password. We do not collect your legal name or physical address.
User Content: Reviews, ratings, photographs, and any other content you post. Photos may contain embedded location metadata depending on your device settings.
Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, and session duration — collected automatically to operate and secure the Site.
Usage Data: Aggregate, anonymized counts of page views, searches, and interactions — used internally to improve the platform and never linked to your identity externally.
We do not collect: Payment card numbers (handled by third-party processors), government IDs, or data from third-party advertising networks.
2. How We Use Your Information
To operate the Site and provide its features.
For internal analytics and platform improvement — aggregate and anonymized, never sold or shared externally.
To detect and prevent fraud, spam, and unauthorized automated access (bots and scrapers).
To comply with valid legal process and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. What We Will Never Do
We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.
We will never share your data with advertisers. We accept no advertising and have no advertiser relationships.
We will never knowingly permit AI or bot scraping of your data or User Content.
4. Bots and AI Crawlers
Automated access to the Site is expressly prohibited. We employ rate limiting, authentication requirements, and other technical controls to block unauthorized automated access. However, we cannot guarantee that all bots or AI crawlers will be successfully blocked — the technology evolves continuously. Content you post publicly may, despite our efforts, be accessed by automated systems outside our control.
5. Data Sharing
We share data only with: (a) service providers who help us operate the Site (Firebase/Google Cloud, payment processors) under strict confidentiality obligations; (b) law enforcement or courts when legally required by valid legal process; and (c) successors in a business acquisition, subject to the same privacy commitments.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Account data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, personal account information is removed within a commercially reasonable time. Anonymized User Content (reviews, ratings) may remain on the Site attributed to a deleted account. To request removal of specific content, contact us at admin@zerostarrating.com. Server logs are typically retained for 90 days.
7. Security
We use encrypted password storage, HTTPS, and established cloud infrastructure security practices. No method of electronic transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. Contact us at admin@zerostarrating.com to exercise these rights.
9. Children
The Site is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy periodically. Material changes will be noted with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance.
